As preparations get under way across the North East for the annual Bonfire Night displays, organisers are doing their best to add as much fizz, sparkle and pizazz as possible to the occasion.
And the popular Riverside Fireworks event – back for third year – is certainly out to beat the competition with The Greatest Show which will be lighting up the skies of Chester-le-Street , County Durham, on November 4, a day ahead of Guy Fawkes.
Tickets are on sale now for the event at Riverside Park which will celebrate The Greatest Showman with a circus theme and what’s billed as a spectacular fully-choreographed fireworks display which will be accompanied by a “musical extravaganza of songs” from the hit musical.
There will be a funfair and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Jamie Lee Harrison and three-piece band Jennison will be adding to the atmosphere with live music.
Carl Marshall, director of organisers Stanley Events, said: “This event has grown year on year and is now one of the biggest organised displays in the region.
“This year looks set to be another great event with a brilliant theme, some great bands, family entertainment and a massive range of food and drink.”
With a fully-licensed bar and a children’s fancy dress competition, the event will open at 4.30pm on the day with the firework display getting under way at 6.30pm.
Stanley Events advise people to buy tickets early as demand for them is expected to be high.
They cost £5 with a booking fee while free tickets can be selected for those aged under-six. There is also limited on-site car parking available, also for £5. To book either see here .
