A circus performer was taken to Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital hospital last night (Wednesday, September 26) after a fall during a show in Downham.

One of the Wonder Circus’ aerial artists, a woman in her 20s who was taking part in the ‘Magic and Unicorns’ show at Denver Playing Fields, fell while she was performing but circus officials have said she will be okay.

A post on the Wonder Circus’ Facebook page last night said: “Unfortunately during our evening performance tonight one of our aerial artists had a fall, we just want to let everyone know she is OK and on her way to hospital and we will update you all when she has been assessed.

“A massive thank you to the ambulance and air ambulance crew who were all fantastic, and thank you to all that have asked about her.”

A later comment added: “Thank you for all your well wishes. Thankfully she’s going to be fine. I will pass on all your messages.”

A spokeswoman for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said: “Anglia Two attended a woman in her twenties who had suffered an accidental injury near Downham Market last night.

“Alongside the East of England Ambulance Service, Dr David Leveton and critical care paramedic Sam Sweeney gave the patient a full assessment, administered pain relief and splinted her injuries.

“The crew then accompanied the patient by road to King’s Lynn QEH.”

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and East Anglian Air Ambulance were called to Denver Playing Field, Denver shortly before 8pm yesterday following reports of a woman injured in a fall.

“A woman with serious injuries was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by road ambulance.”

The Wonder Circus is set to continue its performances in Downham until this Sunday, after which it will move on to Wisbech from Wednesday next week.
